Held King's Commission for a year at Aden during the War; a co- worker with Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew; became popular by launching an agitation against the stoppage of the issue of platform tickets to Indians at Amritsar Railway Station;actively participated in the agitation against Rowlatt Bills; was prohibited on March 29, 1919 under orders of the Government of the Punjab from speaking in public and was interned in Amritsar; later deported from Amritsar.
